Hello! My name is Michael Northrop and I’m the author of TombQuest. I’ve been fascinated by ancient Egypt since I was a kid. The ancient tombs and treasures, the ragged mummies, the pharaohs and their curses… I loved it all. And now that I’m a little more ancient myself, I am having a blast bringing the magic and mystery of ancient Egypt to the modern world.
In Book 1, Alex Sennefer’s mom uses the powerful Lost Spells to bring him back from the brink of death. But in the process, she opens a gateway to the afterlife and five sinister spirits known as the Death Walkers escape. Hey, even Egyptologists make mistakes!
Alex’s mom vanishes, along with the Spells, leaving it up to Alex and his best friend Ren to battle the spirits and set things right. It’s an adventure that will take them around the world and even into the afterlife.
My favorite part of the book is definitely the final showdown. I won’t give too much away but there’s a devious Death Walker, a powerful hyena-mask-wearing death cult operative, and scorpions by the pound. Really, I just love that I get to say things like “powerful hyena-mask-wearing death cult operative.” I also love the creepy, trap-filled tomb. Speaking of which…
Part of the fun of TombQuest is an online game where you can construct maze-like tombs of your own, fill them with treasures and traps, and challenge your friends to venture inside. I’ve already played an early version and it is AMAZING! I think the lumbering mummies are the best part, but the traps are pretty cool too—even the ones that are the pits (the bottomless pits, that is).
Anyway, I’m having a ton of fun writing this series. As you can see from these pictures, TombQuest has gone straight to my head! Here is a sneak preview from Book 1 that you can check out right now. I hope you get wrapped up in the adventure—I know the mummies did!
